Know Before You Go

Location: We are in the front building at La Casa Que Ve Al Mar, on a hill overlooking Playa la Ropa. The road is below us.

The beach is 200 meters from our condo. It takes between 5 and 10 minutes to walk, depending on your ambition level. Town is a 20 minute walk. There are also frequent mini-buses and plenty of taxis.

Getting around: It's a steep walk down to the road and the beach but it's not a problem for most people. Taxis are a relatively inexpensive and readily available alternative for those wiith physical limitatiions. If you call a taxi, it will usually arrive before you get to the parking lot.

Accessibility: There are 16 unavoidable steps up to the elevator. There is another unavoidable set of stairs on the way down to the pool.

Noise: Unless you are on a deserted beach, Mexico can be noisy. However, the Casa Que Ve Al Mar complex is a relaxing and serene atmosphere with little interruption. At night, the crash of the waves on Playa la Ropa is pretty much all you will hear. During the day, there may be noise on occasion due to construction, special events on the beach, tourist traffic and so on although unlike most of Zihuatanejo, we do not have barking dogs or roosters milling about.

Safety: Case Que Ve al Mar employs 24-hour security at the entrance to the property. Outside of the complex, Zihuatanejo is a remarkably safe town. But, like anywhere else, one needs to follow common sense rules. Always, especially on the beach, keep track of your valuables (or leave them behind in our safe!). During the daylight hours, it is safe to walk into town and throughout the various colonias. At dusk and later, it is advised that you take a taxi between Playa la Ropa and town and do not walk on poorly lit streets to avoid pickpockets, uneven cobblestone hazards and traffic. Walking around the main downtown area in the evening is fun and festive but if you leave the confines of "el Centro" take a taxi.

Weather: Zihuatanejo has over 300 sunny days every year and average temperatures of 23-33 degrees Celsius / 73-93 degrees Fahrenheit. From mid-June to mid-October it often rains. It may not rain for several days in a row but on the other hand, it may rain every day. Sometimes it rains for several days. Sometimes it rains for an hour and then becomes bright and sunny again. August and September are usually the hottest, most humid and wettest months. This makes these months the perfect time to come to get away from the crowds, cool off in the pool, and watch spectacular lightning shows from our terrace!
